What is a melamine sponge?
Melamine resin foam plastic, also known as melamine sponge or foam, is a highly porous intrinsic flame retardant soft foam material made from melamine resin as the matrix and foamed under specific process conditions. Only when it is in contact with an open fire, the surface will start to burn, and it will immediately decompose to produce a large amount of inert gas, diluting the surrounding air. At the same time, dense coking will quickly form on the surface to effectively isolate oxygen and make the flame self extinguish, and will not produce droplets and toxic small molecules, which can eliminate the fire safety of traditional polymer foam. Therefore, without the addition of flame retardant, the flame retardant of the foam can meet the B1 low combustible material standard (German standard) and UL94-VO high flame retardant material standard (American Insurance Association standard) specified in DIN4102. Moreover, the foam material has a three-dimensional grid structure with an opening ratio of more than 99%, which can not only effectively transform sound waves into vibration energy of the grid and be consumed and absorbed, showing excellent sound insulation performance, but also can effectively block the convection heat transfer of air. In addition, the unique thermal stability makes it have good heat insulation and heat preservation performance.
